Find and Keep a treasure at Brisbane’s first Finders Keepers Market

On October 31st and November 1st, Sydney’s most loved Collaborative design market, The Finders Keepers are making their debut to Brisbane, and plan to make their stay as a bi-annual design market event. The Finders Keepers Spring/Summer Market will be held at The Old Museum in Fortitude Valley and will be open from 12pm – 9pm on the Saturday and 10am –5pm on the Sunday.

The Finders Keepers will showcase around 55 of Brisbane’s best emerging and innovative designers of fashion, jewellery, accessories, homewares, children’s wear, stationary, art and object design all of which will be hand selected to be involved. Local independent production company Mammoth Productions will provide free live music by local independent musicians and there will also be an outdoor café in the gardens right through the weekend.

The Finders Keepers offers Brisbane locals an opportunity to immerse themselves in live music, food, all things art and design, and discover treasures that inspire and delight.

The Finders Keepers supports the Three Things Project and Finders Keepers Merchandise sold at the Market will raise money for not-for-profit organisation Oxfam.

For designers who want to be involved in the event, applications close Friday September 11th at Midnight.

Discover Australia’s Best Designers In One Space at the
‘pyd design markets’

Sydney’s leading design resource, pyd, is hosting its annual design markets on October 24th and 25th 2009 at their waterloo precinct. The pyd design markets plays host to Australia’s most talented object designers under one roof and offers consumers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in, and engage with contemporary design and discover a treasure.

Unlike other Sydney designer markets, this event is not about fashion. The pyd design market is Sydney’s first market dedicated to showcasing 80 designers of high-end, handmade furniture, lighting, textiles, ceramics, glass & jewellery.

The participating designers will be hand chosen by an influential expert panel including Geoff Clark Owner of pyd, who believes this new event will offer Australian object designers a powerful new platform to reach consumers.

“From its inception, pyd building positioned itself to be the centre of design in Sydney.  An essential part of this is to reward, encourage and support fresh contemporary designers in Australia and lead these designers to become commercially viable for their designs.  Australia has become increasingly powerful within the world design community and we endeavour to give Australian designers a footprint within that worldwide design community.

Through the markets we expect to give these designers an audience of over 15,000 people on one day”.  Geoff Clark, Owner of pyd.
