Winter Brooch Show

Studio 2017
Annual Winter Brooch Show
May 4th – June 6th
For the third year running, Studio 20/17 will once again buck the notion that brooches are only for ‘old ladies’ and celebrate the brooch’s universal appeal.
“The wearing of jewellery has very ancient roots going back 75,000 years. Traditionally worn for ornament or utility, to convey messages of rank or wealth, or to follow superstitious custom or fashion, the brooch is making a contemporary comeback. It can be perhaps one of the most expressive forms of body adornment. From subtle and discreet tiny pins perched cheekily on the tip of a collar, to loud, bold, massive brooches, allowing full creative expression of both the wearer and maker, the contemporary brooch goes beyond the decorative and functional to convey a dialogue between the wearer and viewer”. Says Bridget Kennedy, co-owner of Studio 20/17.
Participating Artists Include:
Felicity Peters, Melinda Young, Anna Davern, Daehoon Kang, Joung-mee Do, Zoe Brand, Emma Fielden, Karen Thompson, Christian Hall, Lina Peterson, Natalia Milosz-Piekarska, Sean O’Connell, Karin Findeis, Karin Jaccobson, Emma Jane Donald, Vernon Bowden, Mark Vaarwerk, Carlier Makigawa, Michelle Miller, Margaret West, Zoe Jay Veness.
